At the April 4, 2011 Budget Committee meeting, the County Treasurer’s 2010 Year End Summary was presented. It showed the County is in excellent fiscal shape.

The General Fund Balance totaled $23,801,825. This is $12,307,503 more than it was on December 31, 2009. This is the highest fund balance in Chemung County’s history. “The partnership between the Executive and the Legislative branches over these many years has allowed Chemung County to be a leader in medicaid Reform, shared services, economic development, and fiscal responsibility. For the last six years we have not raised the county tax rate and it is my goal to present to the Legislature in November of 2011 a budget which will acually call for a tax rate decrease for the taxpayers of our community. With the potential for tax increases, espesially in the areas of education, due to cuts to school aid, I believe it is more important than ever we hold the line on County taxes.” Chemung County Executive Tom Santulli

“I look forward to being a partner with County Executive Tom Santulli and my fellow Legislators to continue to bring fiscal responsibility and financial restraint to the people of the 15th District.” Rodney J. Strange, County Legislator
