Chemung County’s 15th legislative district is located in the southeastern section of Chemung County. It is made up of the entire Town of Ashland, including the Village of Wellsburg, half of the Town of Southport and the Eastern section of the Town of Elmira east of I86. With a population of approximately 5,800 residents, the 15th district is a mix of rural and urban areas.
We are home to two high schools, shopping centers and small businesses, family and commercial farms, a maximum security prison, an interstate highway, a civil war battlefield and state park, the summer home of Mark Twain, mouthwatering restaurants and diners, beautiful walking trails and green spaces, three fire departments, light industries and manufacturers, along with gorgeous hills and neighborhoods.
