Patricia L. Flory, the wife of the late John A. Flory passed away on December 26th at her home on Comfort Hill Road in the Village of Wellsburg.
Mrs. Flory’s husband John was the Legislator from Chemung County’s 15th legislative district for 35 years. Many times during his decades of service to his community, Mr. Flory said that he couldn’t have done it without Mrs. Flory by his side.
Current Chemung County Legislator Rodney J. Strange said in a statement about Mrs. Flory’s passing: “It was with great sadness that I learned of Mrs. Flory’s death. I last visited with her on Thursday, December 22nd at her home. I have long admired her and John for the service they have provided the Village of Wellsburg, the Town of Ashland, and Chemung County. I have become friends with Mrs. Flory over the past two years. I was extremely proud and honored to have Mrs. Flory serve as the honorary chairperson of my campaign for the legislature in 2010. I will miss the advice and history lessons Mrs. Flory shared with me about the 15th District, issues in the community, and her and John’s experiences during their time in public office. I will never forget the support I received from Mrs. Flory and the difference she made in my campaign. I will cherish the visits we had and the friendship we shared. She will always be the ‘First Lady’ of the Fifteenth District. I will miss her very much. I extend my deepest sympathy to the entire Flory family and all those whose lives Mrs. Flory touched. May she rest in everlasting eternal peace with John and her other family members.”
