Chemung County Legislator Rodney J. Strange filed petitions containing 419 signatures with the Chemung County Board of Elections on August 12th to form an Independent ballot line.

Strange will appear on the 15th District United Party ballot line along with being on the ballot as the candidate of the Republican, Independence and Conservative Parties. He filed petitions for those three ballot lines on July 7th.

Strange created the 15th District United Party as a way to demonstrate his belief that he works for all of the residents of the 15th District. “I have always held the philosophy that I represent all the people of my district no matter where they live, who they are or their political beliefs. I work for everyone in the 15th Legislative District,” Strange said.

With the filing of his 15th District United Party petitions, Strange made history in Chemung County for the number of signatures filed by a candidate for the county legislature. The combined total of individual signatures for the four parties Strange filed for was 761, this is more than any candidate for county legislature in county history.

“I am proud of the effort my campaign did in obtaining signatures. We went into every neighborhood in the 15th District and sought support for my re-election. The number of signatures we received is unprecedented for a county legislative race. I can’t thank the resident enough for the support they have given me and I will continue to campaign hard to win in November,” Strange said.

In his 2010 victory, Strange received 729 votes to win his first term. This time, he got more than that in just signatures to get on the ballot and for that he is grateful. “I am overwhelmed by the show of support that I have received,” Strange concluded.
