The Chemung County Legislature extended the Residential Deputy contract with the Town of Southport at their September 12th legislative meeting. Legislator Rodney J. Strange, whose district covers half of Southport is a strong supporter of the service.
“I believe this is an essential service for the people of Southport and it has worked out very well since its inception in 2007,” Strange said. I wish more of these type of arrangements could be worked out throughout the county. It serves Southport well and I think other towns should consider doing the same.
