Summertime in Chemung County goes hand in hand with baseball at Dunn Field.

The Elmira Pioneers have been a staple in Elmira for decades. For many years as a Boston Red Sox minor league team and today as part of the Collegiate Baseball League’s Perfect Game.

“I remember going to Dunn Field with my brothers and friends to watch the Pioneer’s  40 years ago,” Chemung county Legislator Rodney J. Strange said.  “As a young boy, I always knew that summer vacation from school meant the start of the baseball season at Dunn Field.”

Strange said he is excited to become a sponsor of the team for the 2017 season and looks forward to building on this new relationship and supporting the continuation of baseball in Chemung County for years to come.

“This is a fun, family activity that spans generations. I look forward to continuing the tradition as a sponsor of the Elmira Pioneers in the future so families have a place to come to enjoy themselves and make memories like I did as a child,” Strange said.
