New York State Electric & Gas (NYSEG) has filed a request with the New York State Department of Public Service (DPS) to increase its annual electric and gas revenues by increasing customers’ delivery rates, which is what utilities charge for delivering the electricity or gas through their network of transmission lines. This request follows a previous increase in delivery rates, which went into effect starting in May 2024. This new increase may start as soon as April of 2026.
Rate cases, and subsequent reviews by DPS, are standard and part of regulating these industries. Public comment is currently open for this request. You don’t have to be a NYSEG customer to submit a comment.
