Highway Chairman Rodney J. Strange proposed a resolution in opposition to the New York State Department of Transportation’s proposed lanes reduction changes on State Route 14 (Miracle Mile).
On Monday, Dec. 8th, the Full Legislature unanimously passed that resolution.
Below is the resolution:
Below is the letter sent to NYSDOT from County Executive Moss and Sheriff Schrom explaining their opposition to the proposed change:
Below is the email from Marty Jackson, Public Involvement Coordinator NYSDOT that was sent to Legislator Strange and others who attended a meeting on November 12th with state DOT officials. As you can read in the email, after considering this proposal and hearing from municipal officials, the DOT has decided not to proceed with the proposal.
Good afternoon,
A huge thank you to those of you who were able to make it to the Stakeholder Meeting on Wednesday. Your input, comments and questions are greatly appreciated and needed to assist the NYSDOT to deliver a project best suited for your community. I have attached a copy of the presentation.
Based on the feedback that we received, we will not be making any major changes to the traffic pattern on State Route 14. The paving project will progress as scheduled with the traffic pattern remaining near identical to the current traffic pattern. Traffic may be reconfigured in certain areas around business such as the Byrne Dairy area that was discussed.
We anticipate holding a Public Meeting in mid-January to address any questions or concerns with the public.
If you have any additional questions or comments, please feel free to contact me.
Thank you!
Marty Jackson
