The Chemung County Compost Facility, located on Blostein Blvd. off of Chemung Street in Horseheads, is available free of charge for residents of Chemung County to be used for the disposal of yard waste.
 
§     The facility is open from April through November, weather permitting.  (Opens May 9 in 2017.)
 
§     Operating hours are: 9am – 3pm Tuesday thru Friday (except holidays), and 10am – 4pm on Saturdays.  The facility is closed on Mondays for processing of materials.
 
§     Please have your valid driver’s license or proof of residency ready when you approach the facility attendant.
 
§     Material will be set aside for residents’ use.  Please do not take material that is not labeled for residents’ use.
 
§     Contractors and commercial enterprises cannot use the facility.
 
§     No smoking.
 
§     No use of chainsaws or power equipment.
