“It is with great personal sadness that I extend the sympathy of 15th District residents to the friends and family of Chemung County Sheriff’s Deputy Jeffrey T. Alexander. Jeff was a friend of mine for many years and was a dedicated and proud member of the Chemung County Sheriff’s Office. My last memory of Jeff was this past Saturday at the Sheriff’s Office 175th Anniversary open house. Jeff was about to get off duty when he saw me outside on the lawn. Jeff came outside and walked down to me and shook my hand and talked. He was in full uniform and looked so proud. I will carry that memory with me for the rest of my life. Since becoming a Legislator in January, when I saw Jeff I would ask him if he was protecting the 15th District. He would tell me, “Rod, I got your back.” Jeff was in the 15th District when he slipped the serried bounds of earth to touch the face of God. My condolences go to Sheriff Moss and Undersheriff Schrom for this terrible tragedy and to all of the members of the Chemung County Sheriff’s Office. My prayers are with the Alexander and Holden families and especially Lindsey Holden, Jeff’s fiancee. Chemung County is a better place because of Jeff Alexander. God Rest His Soul.” “I would also like to extend my sympathy to the family of Albert A. Paganelli who also died in the accident. Mr. Paganelli lived on Lower Maple Ave. in the Town of Ashland.”
