Chemung County Legislator Rodney J. Strange nominated the late Dale Bryant for the 2025 Distinguished Senior Volunteer of the Year Award for the Chemung County Department of Aging & Long Term Care.
Strange nominated Bryant in January as a member of the Department of Aging & Long Term Care’s Advisory Board which Strange has served on since 2019.
In his nominating letter Strange said, “There is no way to even estimate the number of lives impacted by Dale’s years of service to this community. His volunteerism has brought to life the history of Chemung County that many would never know. The Woodlawn Cemetery, Popcorn Truck, Vintage Car Club and Eldridge Park have touched the lives of literally hundreds of thousands of people over the years and will continue to into the future because of Dale Bryant. Dale’s dedication and commitment to our community is beyond measurable. I know of no one more deserving of this award more than Dale. I am honored and proud to nominate Dale E. Bryant for the Distinguished Volunteers of the Year 2025 Awards.”
Dale suffered a stroke in February and passed away in March. Dale will represent Chemung County at the New York State “Distinguished Senior Volunteer of the Year” ceremony in Albany in June where the statewide award will be announced. Dale’s family will be present in Albany for that celebration.
Strange presented the award to Dale’s children at the Older Americans Month celebration held on May 14th at the New Beginnings Church. The celebration was put on by the Department of Aging and Long Term Care.
