The Chemung County Office of Fire and Emergency Management is asking all residents and people who work in Chemung County to download the agency’s free mobile application for an upcoming test.

The app will alert the public during an emergency such a flood, storm or hazardous materials release, and will supply the most current emergency information during such an event.

On Nov. 1, the county will conduct a test of the “Storm Damage Reports” feature in the app.

The public will be asked to take a picture of the street signs close to their home or work and then access the “Storm Damage Reports” feature in the app, found in the sub-menu when clicking in the upper left corner of the main page. The user will fill out the form, attach their picture and hit the submit button.

The app can be downloaded onto mobile devices from Google Play or the Apple App Store. The app title is Chemung Co. NY Fire/Emergency Management, with the app caption ccemo.
